NOOTROPICS
Hello and welcome to our second Blog post. Following on from our first post we thought it would be a good idea to do a deep dive on Nootropics and more specifically, the active ones in our energy gel.
For those of you who have only just joined us, I have explained very briefly what these mysterious ingredients are and what they are used for. Sometimes known as cognitive enhancers, Nootropics are supplements that can aid in brain function and improve aspects such as clearing brain fog, motivation, and focus. They come in various forms and can be found naturally in many different food types. For our products, we have carefully and thoroughly researched 4 key nootropics to give golfers a cutting mental edge during their round. Let’s look into each of them in more detail:
Ginseng: Ginseng is a short, slow-growing plant with fleshy roots. It has a light-coloured, forked-shaped root and green oval leaves and can come in numerous varieties. For our gel, we use Siberian Ginseng as it has proven in studies to be the most effective. It has been used in Asian medicine for hundreds of years and is believed to have many health benefits including the lowering of blood sugars and increased energy. What drew us to Ginseng however, along with these benefits, was its ability to assist with brain function. Mainly, improving critical thinking. Ginseng is now a staple in Fairway Nutrition products, and we can’t wait for you to begin to feel the benefits!
L-Tyrosine: This is a non-essential amino acid that really caught our attention when we were conducting our research. On the rollercoaster of emotions that is golf we sometimes find ourselves in stressful situations (you know the ones, like bombing a drive on the first only to shank your drive on 2, can feel my head going now!) our body produces and swiftly runs out of hormones such as dopamine, our feel-good hormone. L-tyrosine is key for replenishing these stores and can help ensure you remain calm and more importantly, focussed.
Beetroot Extract: I stumbled across the benefits of Beetroot years ago when I was researching supplements to help with my energy levels. What I actually found was that it can contribute to the increase of nitric acid in our system. This has been shown to cause many benefits, mainly increased blood flow to working muscles, better energy exchange in our cells (better stamina) and stronger muscle contractions. All of these add up to helping you play your best swing all the way through your round!
B Vitamins: Specifically, B6, B9 and B12. These are essential for making our gel provide you with the energy your body requires. If the carbohydrates in the gel are your fuel, these are your catalysts. They help to convert energy more efficiently and make sure it gets to where it is needed the most. Not just to our bodies, but to our minds as well! They have been shown to clear brain fog and assist with clear, critical thinking!
So, there you have it, the 4 key Nootropic ingredients in our gels to help Keep Your Mind on the Course! Keep an eye out for the next blog post due in the next couple of weeks where we explain in more detail the importance of fuelling yourself properly before your round!
